Q: Why become a GrapePip trade vendor?

A: Bin-ends and customer reserves

Let's face it, a bin-end is not the happiest of things...

Of course, some stock is necessary to service one's (hopefully) growing customer base. But there are other wines that one would prefer to liquidate: exchange for cash in the bank, thereby improving one's cash flow.

The normal procedure of issuing a bin-end offer is an inherently unhealthy one. Previously-offered wines are offered to the same customers, just with a slab sliced from their tickets. It all looks a bit desperate.

This is where GrapePip comes in!

GrapePip offers an anonymous arena for the offering of bin-ends, not simply to one's own customers, but to the world. GrapePip can make your business look healthier, maximise returns from your bin-end stock and improve the cash flow of your business

Who can be a Trade Vendor on GrapePip?

UK-based wine merchants/importers whose stock is lying in a UK warehouse. All stock sold via GrapePip must have been professionally stored since shipment. If you do not match these criteria, we unfortunately cannot accept you as a Vendor. If you do, please read on! If you are a private individual looking to sell your stock, please go to our Private Vendor Information Page.

How does it all work?

The first step is for you to apply to be a Trade Vendor - see the link below. Your request comes through to GrapePip where we verify your credentials. You will then receive an email from GrapePip confirming your acceptance as a Vendor, at which point you are ready to start selling.

Log in to your account, click on "Vendor Area" and add a new lot. There are NO listing fees. Our only charge to you is 5% Trade Vendor's Commission plus VAT on the hammer price of any sold lots.

Once a wine sells, you will receive an email confirming the sale. You will then receive a second email confirming GrapePip's receipt of payment from the Buyer. At this point, you simply transfer your sold wine to the GrapePip account at the same warehouse, i.e. if it is lying in Octavian, you transfer it to GrapePip's account at Octavian, maintaining the same duty status. And we do the rest! We will arrange delivery to the Buyer, we will credit your GrapePip account with the proceeds and invoice you for your 5% commission.

We are in the process of putting together a more detailed manual for our Vendors, including all the "small print" and day-to-day "How to..." instructions. In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries, please call us - 0845 548 0580
