Can anyone buy wine on GrapePip?
Yes! You simply have to register first before you can place your first bid.

How does GrapePip benefit from sales?
We charge commission of 5% plus VAT to the Vendor and 5% plus VAT to the Buyer on the hammer price of every transaction.

What guarantee do I have that wine I buy will be delivered?
GrapePip is an intermediary between the Vendor and Buyer. Following a sale, both the wine and payment are handled by GrapePip. The wine is held by GrapePip until payment is made by the Buyer. Similarly, payments for lots are not passed on to the Vendor until the stock has been delivered to GrapePip's storage account.

How much do you charge for delivery?
There is no charge to move a case from GrapePip's storage account to the Buyer's storage account at the same warehouse. However, the Buyer is liable for all delivery charges incurred in moving the wine to another bonded warehouse or to a UK duty paid address. Please refer to our Delivery Charges pay for full information on the delivery charges.

How do I know what my final invoice will be including commission?

Click on the Bid Calculator link, available on every lot, just below the Max Bid box. You can try as many different bid prices as you want and calculate your final price (excluding delivery charges).

I would like to know who is selling this wine. Why is this information not available?
One of the key features of GrapePip is that both merchants and private vendors can sell their wines anonymously. We can however reassure you that all merchants who sell on GrapePip are vetted prior to being accepted as Vendors, and are only selling wines on GrapePip which have been professionally stored since shipment. Furthermore, when private vendors sell wines on GrapePip, they are required to provide documentation confirming original purchase and subsequent storage in a professional bonded warehouse for every wine listed. This information is available to buyers o nreq

Can I sell my wine on GrapePip?
As long as your wine has been professionally stored in the UK since its original sale/shipment, you can list your wine on GrapePip. Please note, however, you will be required to provide documentation to confirm original purchase and subsequent storage in a UK warehouse of every lot listed on GrapePip. To find out more about how to sell your wine on GrapePip, please go to our Private Vendor Information Page. If you are a wine merchant looking to sell your wines on GrapePip, please go to our Trade Vendor Information Page.

Can I keep any wine I buy at the storage facility where it is currently cellared?
Yes. It is up to you to contact the facility and open an account with them. Or, if you have an existing account at that facility, the wine can be transferred into that account. Please note that the location of each lot is clearly stated; as a Buyer, it is your responsibility to take note of the location prior to bidding as any subsequent transfer/delivery costs are the liability of the Buyer.

I have bought a wine that I don’t like. Can I return it?
No. It is deemed that the Buyer bids on the sort of wine he/she likes. If the wine is in good condition, but simply not to the Buyer’s taste, neither GrapePip nor the Vendor is responsible for making redress.

My wine was damaged in transit. Who can I report this to?
See Terms & Conditions. Damaged stock must be immediately reported to the delivery driver and noted on the Delivery Note.

How long will it take for my wine to be delivered once I have paid?
Please allow up to 14 days from receipt of payment to delivery of the wine, although in reality it is often much quicker than this. When the Buyers pays via PayPal, the Vendor is automatically sent an email instructing them to then transfer the case from their storage account to GrapePip's account at the same warehouse; even though this is an "internal transfer" within the same warehouse, in our experience, it can sometimes take up to a week for the process to be completed. Once the wine arrives in GrapePip's account, we then instruct the warehouse according to the Buyer's delivery instructions provided during the checkout process.
